Services

The Community Dispute Resolution Centre’s NMAS accredited staff work with you to help manage and resolve complex disputes, and to refer you to other service providers where necessary.

Our work covers a range of clients including:

Communities, Local Governments and Organisations

We work with community groups, local governments and organisations to understand, manage and resolve complex disputes. Our staff specialise in inter-cultural and inter-religious issues and can assist in diverse value based conflicts as well as conflicts over land use, environmental and planning issues. We provide clients with multi-stakeholder facilitated mediation and dialogue sessions that are designed to explore issues and encourage participants to discover flexible and creative solutions in safe environments. Facilitated sessions normally take place in either full day workshops or shorter formats over multiple weeks and are tailored to suit your needs and the needs of your stakeholders.

Business, Government and Independent Agencies

We work with businesses, government departments and independent agencies and authorities to help you understand potential or ongoing conflict and tension related to your work, and to engage diverse stakeholders affected by decisions and policies. Our services include extended conflict mapping and stakeholder engagement processes designed to assist and manage complex business, government and community disputes and build consensus outcomes. Our staff specialise in development and land use based conflicts including issues related to mining, wind farms, large scale solar projects and respect for cultural heritage. Timeframes are context and stakeholder driven but normally include providing long term and stable frameworks required to build trust, grow relationships and manage tensions.

Individuals

We help individuals manage disputes and avoid the financial and emotional costs of conflict and the lengthy court processes they may lead to. We provide you with a complementary 20 minute consultation regarding your dispute and dispute resolution options, and collaboratively assess whether mediation is the right option for you. After consulting with all parties to a dispute, this is followed by either an impartial, facilitative, and participant driven mediation session normally lasting between 3 and 7 hours, or referral to other organisations that provide support.

Please note that the Community Dispute Resolution Centre does not provide Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) services, and we encourage people experiencing disputes relating to separations, divorces or other family law issues to contact a qualified FDR practitioner for assistance.
